CHAPTER

Towards a More Holistic Perspective on the Kind of Things We Are

The way that we make sense of our worlds can be seen in the context of a generative model. Natural selection can be regarded as Bayesian model selection hypothesis testing some evolutionary mechanism by which as generations unfold you are basically witnessing tests of the belief that evolution has about what's the most adapted phenotype for an environment. The pace of change of the world that we are trying to model is now outstripping the change the ability for us developmentally or in terms of experience dependent learning to change the structure of our models so I think it's a really important question and could tie into all the current questions that are vexing people every day.
