Left vs Right in a Liberal Democracy
In a liberal democracy, you are going to see two sides contending with one another. People start to adjust and to conform their views to the camp that they have chosen to alline themselves with. Most significantly, i think it helps to obscure sort of top down class conflict,. You don't have to acknowledge that uncomfortable fact of class contention if you frame it in these neutral terms left versus right.
