The Deadliest Day of the Afghan War

The cost of war project at Brown University has estimated that the war in Afghanistan has directly killed over 243,000 people. The vast majority of incidents involved one or two deaths which were never reported on by official organizations and therefore never counted as part of the civilian toll. These figures do not include deaths caused by disease, loss of access to food, water, infrastructure, being displaced from their homes and other indirect consequences of this kind of war and occupation.
