The 10 principles of sleep are based on a study done by Stanford University. The first one is to create a nightly routine before you go to bed. It's not REM sleep that matters the most, which everybody thinks it's deep sleep. You could lie in bed for 11 hours and only get about 2% of your recommended amount of sleep.
