The Different Types of Dark Matter

Dark matter is well explained by being some sort of exotic particle. Almost any particle that we can think of would probably cause the expansion of the universe to decelerate and slow down. You would have to have something really exotic to cause it to accelerate because anything with a mass attracts itself. And so the mass attracting itself, it might not be enough to cause the expansion to stop, but it would at least slow it down.
