The ILM research has like been talking about a lot of recently which hasn't really filtered the mainstream is sponsored meso optimization. The idea is assuming you're learning you're searching for a a policy to optimize a certain thing it might be that the program that you find is itself an optimizer for something else. Humans are a meso optimizer for evolution designed as looking for a function that maximizes inclusive fitness but we optimize the completely different thing for like happiness and stupid stuff like that so i want to talk about inner versus outer alignment by the way.
