Kave Akbar: A Poet for a Craft Lecture
Kave Akbar, who we taught together at the Tin House Writers Workshop one summer. He was talking just absolutely beautifully about photosynthesis and about trees making sugar out of sunshine. So ending on this idea of survival and photosynthesis and plants being creatures that make their own nutrients in same way that psychologically this character has been through a lot of stuff. Basically, she's always had to be the one looking out for her own survival.
