The Effects of Direct Versus Indirect Touch on Food Consumption

A spoon's design can have a big impact on the way we behave, in the way we consume. One study found that people who eat with their fingers directly find food more pleasurable to eat and they eat more of it. It almost makes me wonder if there could be a kind of small roll for the spoon and other utensils in the evolution o f human food and quisine and culture.
