The Importance of Having a Job

I remember very vividly being in elementary school very young and thinking, this is not my job, mom, I'm not here to teach you English. If you want to learn English, you go and figure it out yourself, because I have my own life. And that was another thing I said to my mom too. She never had the chance to go to an English class and learn it that way. So that's how I learned. It's hard to bridge that gap. You need to navigate this gap inside yourself,. like you're, you know, the identity that you have at home speaking Cantonese and your identity outside speaking English.
