How to Treat Your Cogs That Way

A good cog is unaware of, and perhaps even more importantly, uninterested in being aware of the greater structureas serves. A cog just needs to focus on turning, turning and turning - meshing well with the other cogs that surround it. Even if a cog initially has little rough edges that don't quite mesh into the machine, it will eventually become more and more standed off until it fits perfectly within the already existing machine. The parts of the cog that don't fit are the problem, not the shape of the machine. And of course, at the end of its life cycle, a used up, broken cog is discarded, having been worn down too much by the machine to
