The History of the Nobel Prize
The cosmic microwave background was discovered around 1964. It was kind of a chance discovery because these folks at Bell Labs were trying to do early satellite communications. I think it was surprisingly quick that people realized that that was probably leftover radiation from the Big Bang. The, yeah, Philip is commenting that some Nobel Prize has been a bit random. And certainly by the rules, as I understand them today, would be taxable income.
