The Importance of Judaism in Western Esotericism

The Old Testament is remarkably un-book-like. It consists of a really complex collection of texts written over the course of an enormously long history. No one can actually agree how long, but preserving some elements from early-ish Bronze Age materials and still being written and re-edited into the Hellenistic period. The only real voice of dissent here is that the Pentateuch represents the final result of a very convoluted process of redaction or editing where a lot of splicing occurred.
