Lady Mary saw the enormous potential of inoculation and ordered her children to be inoculated. Upon her return to England, she tried to popularize it, but most doctors and the general public were horrified. To combat some of this incredibly stupid nonsense, Lady Mary and a few pro inoculation doctors designed an experiment in which they would inoculate a bunch of people who had never had smallpox.
