The Importance of Public Visibility in Blood Banking
Joe Cirincione: The public visibility of the disease is why a couple of companies were willing to spend the money and the effort to develop the test. He says often these companies are not willing to invest in developing tests because they have no assurance that they'll be used. Cirincion: Something like 80% of the people who become infected with Zika don't know it, so this creates a unique risk for the safety of the blood supply.
