The Importance of a Common Culture
A common culture is synonymous with a consensus about what constitutes reality. If you don't have a common culture, there's no basis for any kind of collective activity. The U.S., generally but especially the United States, is in a state of extreme crisis which is getting worse. And one of the few things that might conceivably help is if we could pull ourselves together and work together to fix things. We're not likely to do that because we can't even agree on what's real.
