Manxgold - A Story of Outlier Status

The story doesn't appear in any of my good friend Mark Aldrich's books. The dearth of reference material on this story just speaks to its outlier status and its weirdo provenance. I'll speak about the initial publication in a moment, but the story wasn't collected in book form until much later than it was initially published. It appears in While the Light Lasts and Other Stories in the UK, which came out in 1997, via HarperCollins,. And in the Harlequin Tset and Other stories in the US, which also came out in1997 via GP Putnam's Sons.
