The Amorites of Mesopotamia - The Amorite Threat
The western peoples were the amorites, who were still living a very nomadic way of life. The neo sumerians had to construct a wall to specifically aid in repelling the amorite threat. Is not totally clear what weakened this neo sumerian state. Perhaps a drought or a famine had weakened it. It was eventually the elamites from the east who dealt the killer blow by taking advantage of the weakened city of ore and moving inwards.
