Is There a Story in the World?

I think that things are out of kilter on our culture for psychological reasons, because life is confusing and difficult. Our brains are biologically constructed so that we see the world through the lens of a story. We use stories to convey information, and it's not that easy to get children to listen. They're too canny in some sense just to go out and do exactly what you say they should do. It seems quite self-evident that we naturally use metaphors but more importantly, we understand stories.
