"If not either of us trusted ourselves in the first place, then it's going to be very hard to trust each other," he says. "We brought all of our baggage from previous hurts into the relationship and that doubt the self doubt and also the doubt in the other person was always there." The pair didn't do a good enough job of talking about their pasts or how they'd like to move on with their lives. They are still together today but have had some difficult conversations over the last few years.
