Are You Seeing Any Trends on the on Large Scale?

Venture backed companies are spending a lot of their spend on SEO and creating content. This is not everybody's popular opinion, but I actually think creating a lot of content can be an excellent tactic to get the attention of Google. What I would say though is don't just build random content. Apply the topics that align most with your business model.
