The Ancestry of of Grendall in Beowulf
There are no books in beowulf. There is a few uses of ritan to write, wo it's the ancestor of our word to write,. But it's not used in the sense of writing, lica codex or scroll or anything. And so we get ham showing up instead of cane at some point. It doesn't really feel like part of the palm necessarily. You know, it clearly does seem to be a literary text written by someone who was familiar with literate rethere are questions of whether there is influence of virgil in some parts.
