I've Got Refugees From Art School
The hatred of the past is a self inflicted tragedy, he says. These children that go to art school and universities nowadays are going into a system of deprivation, systematic deprivation. They come out as eraiy, brain washed, mentally eradicated, deculturalized, useless, useless units, absolutely disposed of. You now, the idea is that theysubsume their identity in applying themselves to the work in hand in the studio. And this is an amazing sense of release that they get, because suddenly they're looking at a thing that will be made, and that thing can only be made by reference to the past in my studio.
