The Importance of Type Checking in Data Science

The practice of data science is not completely devoid of types. R does have minimal typing, but it comes with missing values. In these sort of notebook environments, you're not really compiling and going through that loop to build out a program. And this can be months of work of doing a data science where it never feels like you're compiling a program or even a program at all.
