A Lock and a Key Is a Finite State Machine

In cellular automata, they have a the rule that they're executing. Sometimes the pattern is easy to discern and sometimes the pattern becomes computationally irreducible depending on what's being executed. If it was if you could imagine a cellular automata that could execute the pattern on its own, what would be required for the cellular automata each cell to do so? John: I don't know how to get at this. Just forget that I brought it up. The idea of a finite state machine needs to look like a lock and key.
