Over the past 40 years I've seen a lot of things which were just murmurs of what might be possible turn into big things that were important in the world and seeing that has been very interesting because when I see a murmur today the question is will it turn into a big thing in the world or will it just go silent. The timescales for the absorption of ideas are longer than I than I imagined but what happens is specific kind of slices of those ideas specific kind of uh you know change life for the world in some specific wayThose things come in quickly but the sort of bigger intellectual sort of uh arcs take a surprisingly long time to to come to fruition, he says.
