Sulcrophate: A Coding Agent for Gastric Reflux

Sulcrophate really does not have a role in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease, other than potentially as a potential role in those patients who are pregnant. PPI's are fine in pregnant women and probably would give them additional benefit. When do I ever use that medication? I wouldn't probably use it for treatment of reflux. I might use it in someone who has a non-acid mediated ulcer. And so again, you might have someone who, you know, is having symptoms from non acid mediated reflux. That's what that test pH slash impedance would be really looking out to do.
