The ancient celts were linguistic descendants of the early celtic tribes. They all spoke languages which were descended from the original indo european language. In the mid 18 hundred a prehistoric cemetery was discovered near hallstadt in modern austria. And excavations reveal that this was the site of a culture that existed from around the eighth century b c until the sixth century b c. This indicates a general westward movement of these peoples from southeastern europe into western europe.
