The Ball Jointed Doll Fandom
Ball jointed dolls or bjds for short are collectible dolls that have ball and socket joints that are strong with elastic which allows them an exceptionally wide range of life-like movement. The style was first inspired by hans balmers german ball jointed dolls of the 1930s but became more affordable in 1999 when vox created their super dulphy line of dolls. Each doll can cost up to several thousand dollars even several hundred thousand dollars for older collectible dolls from famous artists however. There's also a subculture of people who dress up as the dolls themselves doing makeup inspired by bjd or even going as the dolls themselves.
