Mr. Waters: I like people to remind us that Ireland, its history shows heroism. It shows the heroic struggle for freedom has no other country in recent history in Europe. So 1916, a rebellion squashed apparently forever squashing hopes of Irish independence. Just six years later, Ireland became independent. And we need to remember and hold those things because nationhood was a spiritual condition. A nation is a spiritual thing. We do not fight for ideas as such.
