autonomic dysreflexia is a life threatening complication. It's uncontrolled because normally your brain would have some descending inhibition that dampens these signals. People can get strokes and when I was in the hospital after the spinal cord injury, one of the other patients did have a stroke in his sleep from autonomic dys Reflexia. Most people with spinal cord injuries know their symptoms, know what caused it and them and their caregivers can manage this pretty quick to figure out what's going on.
