Sam is someone who internalises every bad thing that happens to her. And with Nisha, she's someone who pushes it straight back out on whoever's nearby. So it was actually really good fun writing someone who was extremely rude - something I would never dare do myself in real life. But it was quite liberating to write someone who genuinely doesn't care what anybody thinks of her. She spends the first chapter of the book running round outside in a dressing gown and refusing to move from Hotel Foyais in a dressing shirt.
