Michael Wolraich: The concept of group identity did not begin with them. He says that many white brothers and sisters don't see themselves as one among many other athnicities or groups. "Can't you be like us? Can't you transcend those narrow group identifications?" asks Wolraich. 'I am all for the celebration of broader identities,' he adds, but there's a challenge to being treated as individuals.
