For years, the official story had been that monopoly had been invented in the early thirties by an out of work salesman from pennsylvania called charles darrow. But as ralph anspack later uncovered, that wasn't the whole story, or the true story. Lizzie macgee was an early feminist, originally from illinois, who, as well as being an inventor, was a writer, reporter and at one point an actress. And in 19 o four, she took out a patent for what she called the landlord's game. The player having the greatest amount of wealth at the end of the game, after a certain predetermined number of circlits of the board
