I was particularly struck in the book when you explained how kind of the domination of Christianity over paganism helped to ensure that we don't need to think about these bigger questions anymore. There is an immense distinction between living in a subsistence manner taking what you need and also giving back to the land so that it can regenerate itself, says Björnsson. I've heard stories that like apparently in Iceland there are still kind of fairy stories about fairies and gnomes and things like that but sometimes there are protests around development saying they shouldn't be built here.
