Religion cannot survive as it was at the founding. It will always deviate. Splinter sects will arise, and those sects will become corrupted and they will die. Even with buddhism, even if you think buddhism is religion, well, which buddhism are you talking about? There's at least three major branches,. but really, every one of those has a dozen more sub branches within it.
