The ancient sumerians had a whole separate dialect of their language that was only used by women in their literature. That dialect was called emma saul, translated as fine tongue or high pitched voice. And hymns to inana were only sung in this dialect. Some scholars suggest that castration would have been involved in their induction into the religion. But not all scholars agree on this and there seems to be a lack of physical archaeological evidence.
