If you were white house council, you would be concerned about an obstructive pattern emerging out of that. The president may have some occasion, on a number of issues, like policy issues, to communicate with the senior leadership of the department of justice. But in both cases, and certainly in the case of the leadership of the fbi, those commune ations would not involve ongoing, active investigations for him or his associates.
