Horror and Comedy - What's the Difference?
Horror and comedy are two genres that thrive on an audio response, an audible response from an audience. A joke is very much like a set up, a set up in expectation, and then that expectation is subverted. And a jump scare is very similar in the same way of like setting up in expectation of what's going to be behind that door. They're both like, using the time, using the steps.
