The Nutcracker and Tsar Alexander the Third

Chikowski compiled a nutcracker sweet featuring selections from the ballet, which was first performed in march of 18 92. It followed tchikowsky's one act opera, olanta, which had also been the ther part of this commission. Tsar alexander the third does seem to have liked this ballet. Kowsky wrote a letter to his brother saying that the tzar qte was delighted and sent for me to his box and said, a whole lot of kind words. I love that.
