The Origins of the Loire Valley
France has always been a zone of transit rather than the fixed entity. The Loire Valley was marked the northern reach of the Moors when they invaded Europe from Africa. It happened to be the border between Nazi and Vichy France in World War II. Still the border when you talk about weather in North France and South France and it's lined with castles.
