Is Patreon Really a Problem for Free Software Development?

We wrapped up our Patreon at the end of last year, kind of just in time to you guys probably saw this. Both are over at the information did a two month deep dive into patreon and the heavy hitting information is actually on their Twitter feed because the whole article is actually behind a paywall. The bits you need to know about discrimination settlements, sketchy stock sales, failed projects, staffing issues, money issues, all of this is in a Twitter thread that is public with screenshots.
