How to Update Your Beliefs

The view of rationality is too narrow or exactly so in the classroom i give you evidence and philosophers as they say stipulated you just accept it. But when you're in out in the real world you're faced with that continual problem of not just uh how should I update my beliefs given the evidence but should I trust the evidence? A huge amount of psychological research that's been interpreted as showing people is irrational doesn't show what it's taken to show because people just don't trust the evidence in the first place. You can formally model why they shouldn't trust the Evidence given what they really believe by giving them an example like a famous experiment on capital punishment.
