The Effect of Nature on Things
There is therefore a subsistence for the sake of something in things which are produced by and exist from nature. But this is not the case with anything which is produced from fortune and chance. For instance, it does not appear to be from fortune or chance that it frequently rains in the winter. It might be said to be the effect of these two. Nor, when there is heat under the dog star, but when this is the case in winter. All such things however subsist from nature, as is even acknowledged by those who make these assertions.
