Reagan was a serious man of ideas. He had some very talented speech writers working for him, but all of them will tell you and I verified this in archives on his most important speeches. And so that's why some of the more memorable phrases are not just vivid turns of phrase or campaign lines. Those are part of an argument he is making against Soviet communism. The West won't contain communism. It will transcend it as some bizarre chapter in human history.
