In 2002, 10,000 parents admitted to leaving their children in a car for at least three minutes while running errands. In 2004, 298 children died from being left in hot vehicles. The worst case scenario other than like kidnapping situations is that their parents are tourists and just brought their kids to sit outside a bar.
