The Flexibility of Operata
With operata there's a greater allowance, creative allowance for people to mess around with it. The late and great Ruth Bader Ginsburg even did a cameo role as a great lover of opera. I noticed that when I was preparing for that one so there's a lot more flexibility with dialogue which makes sense than there is with the words that have to fit to the score. Some folks are going to enjoy it and some aren't but the tunes are still there and the fundamentals of the plot remain.
