The Great Traumer of the English Civil War
Hobbs lived during one of the most turbulent political periods in all history. His life was defined right at its heart by a kind of breakdown of politics. The breakdown of politics inspired him to write some, but not all, of his thoughts. As i go through these talks, i hope talking about both the idea and the many, many types of criticism of that idea, that our politics will come into a different kind of focus.
