Valentine's Day was a thing 250 odd years ago or in the Regency era. People were Valentine's in the early 18th century, you might stage a lottery. You draw your Valentine from a hat and then you'd wear the name pinned to your blouse. In the second half of the 18th century people increasingly replaced this with paper valentines. It's that commercialization of love, isn't it? It's the marketplace of romance. Love printed on fans, love printed on Valentine cards,.Love printed on everything as a way to sell things. So the Beatles are wrong. You can buy me love.
