This year's BIS Annual Economic Report looks at the risks of the global economy entering a new era of persistently high inflation, potentially combined with stagnant growth. It concludes that timely and decisive action from central banks and other policymakers can ensure a soft landing and sustainable growth in the future. The priority should be to bring down inflation, but more desirable is to bring it down without impinging economic activity or generated bouts of financial instability.
