The Assyrians in the Middle East

The Assyrians are a historic community native to Mesopotamia or Northern Mesopotamia, and they belong to churches that follow the Syriac Christian tradition. They also the community speaks Aramaic that is influenced by Akkadian. Most studies on the community or Iraqi Christians in general depict them as belonging to these sort of handful of churches without really any shared conception of ethnic identity or commonalities.
